Founder / Director

Kacey Wilson

Kacey is a passionate, organized, and loyal mother, wife, leader, and visionary dedicated to creating a meaningful impact in both her personal and professional life. As the founder and director of Kanawha Valley Academy (KVA), she has built a thriving micro-school that reflects her commitment to fostering growth, education, and community connections. Her motto, “If there is a will, there is a way,” has guided her through life’s challenges and inspires her to keep pushing forward for her family and dreams.

Outside of her work at KVA, Kacey treasures the time she spends with her family. Together, they love camping, hiking, traveling, and creating memories in the great outdoors. As a proud mother, she supports her children’s diverse interests, from fishing, karate, and soccer to horseback riding. Kacey deeply values her relationship with her husband and takes pride in supporting the success of his plumbing company. Together, they prioritize maintaining a strong bond by dedicating time to meaningful connection through regular date nights. She also finds peace in rescuing animals, reading, walking, and immersing herself in music or podcasts. Her children are her greatest blessings, inspiring her to make the world a better place, both as a mother and as a leader. Her ultimate dream is to create a peaceful, nurturing environment at home and within her school, encouraging others to recognize their value and stand confidently in their truth.

Having overcome significant challenges, Kacey is proud of her resilience and uses her experiences to inspire others to see their worth and recognize their potential. Whether she’s at home guiding her children through life’s adventures or shaping the future of KVA, she lives by the belief that “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Her authentic approach to life and leadership exemplifies her dedication to making a positive difference in the world.

EDUCATION DIRECTOR

Beth Goodlet

Beth Goodlet graduated college with a bachelors in Biology and then went on to teach science to high school students. After having her second child, she noticed that his health needs would need an alternative to a traditional educational format. This led to her homeschooling for 12 years. During that time she helped continue in education as a tutor in all subjects whether it be homeschool, public, or private school. This also led to Beth continuing her own learning by completing a Masters in Education. One of Beth’s focus became, “Learning how to learn is just as important as what you learn.” With Beth’s experience and education, she has found ways to help students in different walks of life, helping them achieve their goals.

When Beth isn’t in the classroom, she is helping out in her local community alongside her husband as associate pastors. Their community-minded focus is to bring hope in tangible ways to those in need, and to show others that they have value and worth.

Beth looks forward to working with students who attend KVA, and desires to create a peaceful environment where all students can find excitement in learning, as well as develop important life skills that will help them to succeed beyond the classroom.

EDUCATION LEADER

Jessica Madden

Jessica Madden is a dedicated mother to Ian and Ace, who have been her greatest teachers in perseverance. Over the years, she has supported them in overcoming various health challenges, and in turn, they have inspired her strength and resilience.

Living with progressive multiple sclerosis, Jessica has never allowed her condition to define her. Once confined to a wheelchair, she took up martial arts and embarked on a journey of physical rehabilitation. Today, she proudly holds a 4th degree black belt and has spent the past seven years teaching martial arts. Her passion lies in helping both children and adults build self-confidence, develop respect for others, and support each other as they progress in their martial arts training.

For the past four years, Jessica has brought her love for teaching into the classroom, working at a small private school. Her creativity and enthusiasm make learning engaging for all students, with a particular talent for connecting with neurodivergent learners and those with special needs.

"My philosophy is you should not be teaching if you are unwilling to learn, and my students teach me new things everyday."

Jessica is excited to be a part of Kanawha Valley Academy of Learning, where she looks forward to reigniting students’ excitement for learning. She is committed to challenging each student according to their abilities, encouraging them to discover their full potential.
